American Girl dolls are a classic. It’s because of them that a lot of us end up collecting dolls. So, I understand I made a pretty bold statement above! This isn’t to say that I don’t adore American Girl dolls anymore, but I do believe there are dolls out there that are actually more fun to collect!

Journey Girl dolls have been around for a couple years now, but I only just stumbled across them! They used to be a Toys “R” Us exclusive, but now Amazon has purchased the rights to Journey Girl. I am so happy someone saved these dolls because they are really cool!
After doing a little more research I realized I really enjoy each doll and the concept behind Journey Girls. These 8 BFFs travel the world together seeking adventure while discovering new friends and fashion along the way. Each doll is very unique in look, interest, fashion, etc. Truly these dolls encourage our little ones to really embrace their individuality. They don’t only encourage you to express yourself, but also accept other’s as well. All of these dolls are best friends! This is a great message to all of us when looking at our own inner circles.
The Journey Girls literally travel the world and explore what each culture has to offer. Each of their interests being enhanced by different places. As much as I love traveling history with American Girl, they’re confined in whatever decade and place (in America) they were conceived in. Journey Girls can travel through time and different countries all together.
Also, American Girl dolls are pricy, it’s true. If your little one wants to start doll collecting, but you want to begin with something more affordable, Journey Girl dolls are a fantastic alternative to American Girl.
Enough talk about why I like Journey Girl dolls, let me introduce you to them!
The Chavonne doll is vibrant and full of life. Chavonne enjoys performing music and traveling! She is considered the leader of the bunch because she is the most outgoing. Her dream is to be a famous musician. If you have a little diva in your family, Chavonne would make a great companion. They could write music together!
Do you love animals as much as Dana doll? She is a huge animal lover who enjoys taking care of our furry friends. On her free time she usually volunteers at the animal shelter to walk and wash the dogs. Her ultimate goal is to become a veterinarian, but she is enjoying exploring the world for now. Her most defining feature is her bold and fun glasses!
You can tell by her fashion sense that this Kelsey Journey doll is very creative. One of her favorite accessories is purses and bags! Kelsey is a writer and an avid reader. She loves to log about all of her adventures with the other girls. If she’s not writing, her nose is buried in a book. She is incredibly smart and tends to be the brains behind any of the Journey Girls shenanigans.
The Meredith doll is always pushing forward. Literally and metaphorically! She’s a bit philosophical – new ideas and thoughts are always churning. She is also eager to do whatever the other girls want to do. Meredith is sporty and enjoys track, which again, is putting her foot forward. She would be more than happy to keep another busy doll company and play together. Meredith’s favorite part of her outfits are her shoes, especially sneakers.
Do you have a little one who loves social media and photos? I’m sure most of us would fall into that category. If you want a partner in crime, I suggest the Kyla doll. She wants to be a photographer or gallery owner, but understands the necessity of marketing with social media. She loves traveling, because it’s inspiring and she takes lots of photos. She has the most funky and colorful clothes of the bunch. Kyla just loves expressing herself with her camera and her clothes!
If you love food and are eager to try new cuisine in every new place you go, take Mikaella with you! She is the most openminded of the girls, especially when it comes to food. Mikaella loves to bake for her friends and try new things. She loves flowy and casual dresses, just like her aprons. Mikaella is fully immersed in her passion for being a chef! I would love to have a friend like her by my side.
The Callie doll is glamorous! This girl loves to dance and would love to do it professionally in the future. She is the most experimental when it comes to fashion. She will try anything just once. Not only that, but she is open to changing her hair! She loves bangs! As a dancer, you would have to be open to whatever costumes the director would want. I would love to take this doll with me to a Broadway show, that way we will both enjoy it!
I did not expect the Ilee doll to be the down to earth girl! Her outfits look so delicate and fancy, I just can’t imagine her getting one of her beautiful dresses dirty. She loves fishing, camping, gardening, and being in nature. Ilee would make a good companion for other earth loving person. She loves doing anything outside and exploring nature.
These Journey Girl dolls travel somewhere different every year. So far they have been to Paris, London, Italy, New York City, Australia, and Japan. I cannot wait to see where they go next. Each girl indulges in local fashion and activities, why not join them? Not only that, but we get a glimpse into their every day life when they are at home.
